Role summary

Interactive Brokers (IBKR) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a hybrid role. The engineer will design, develop, and optimize applications and services to support IBKR's growing client base and global business expansion. Responsibilities include refactoring code for performance and reliability, and maintaining design documentation. The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, a minimum of 5 years of programming experience, at least 3 years of Java experience, experience with scripting languages like Python or Perl, and relational database experience (Oracle). Strong analytical skills are essential. Prior finance experience is a plus.

This is a hybrid role (3 days in the office/2 days remote).

What will be your responsibilities within IBKR:

  • Design and develop applications and services supporting IBKR’s rapidly growing client base.
  • Build software that supports the expansion of IBKR brokerage business into new markets around the world.
  • Optimize and refactor existing code for improved reliability and performance.
  • Write and maintain design and engineering documentation.
  • Which skills are required:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, or related degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional programming experience.
  • At least 3 years of Java programming experience.
  • Python, Perl or similar scripting language experience.
  • Relational databases experience (Oracle).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills.
