UX Designer & Content Strategist (Hybrid Designer)
Role summary
Interactive Knowledge, a technology agency, seeks a hybrid UX Designer & Content Strategist to lead UX and visual design while supporting content strategy. This role involves full-cycle experience design, from concept to developer-ready assets, using Figma. Responsibilities include creating wireframes, high-fidelity UIs, and design systems, organizing content for clarity, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses strong UX/UI skills, expertise in Figma, content strategy understanding, and knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA). Familiarity with front-end constraints and Agile workflows is expected. This is a hybrid, remote-first position based in Charlotte, NC.

Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a UX-driven designer who can think strategically about content and execute visually compelling interfaces.
This is not a pure content strategy role. It is not a pure UI role either. It is a true hybrid position where UX design and visual execution lead, supported by strong content thinking.
You should be equally comfortable:
- Structuring complex information
- Designing intuitive user flows
- Creating polished, high-fidelity UI designs in Figma
- Supporting content strategy decisions that improve user experience
We need someone who can bridge strategy and execution. Someone who can take an idea from concept → wireframe → polished UI → developer-ready design system.
What You’ll Do
As part of our creative team, you will contribute across the full experience design process:
UX & Product Design (Primary Focus)
- Lead UX thinking across projects including user flows, interaction design, and information architecture
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma
- Translate complex requirements into intuitive, engaging user experiences
- Design across platforms including responsive websites, web applications, and interactive exhibits
- Develop and contribute to component-based design systems
UI & Visual Design (Strong Expectation)
- Deliver polished, modern interfaces with strong typography, layout, and visual hierarchy
- Apply consistent design systems and scalable UI patterns
- Design for a wide range of screen sizes, including large interactive displays and kiosks
- Create developer-ready design files with clear specifications
Content Strategy (Supporting Role)
- Help organize and structure content for clarity, usability, and engagement
- Collaborate on content models, taxonomy, and messaging approaches
- Ensure content supports user goals and overall experience strategy
Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, project managers, and other designers
- Participate in client presentations and design reviews
- Contribute to brainstorming, ideation, and problem-solving sessions
What You BringCore Skills
- Strong UX design experience (information architecture, interaction design, usability)
- Proven ability to design high-quality UI with strong visual execution
- Expertise in Figma (components, auto layout, prototyping, design systems)
- Experience creating wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes
- Ability to move confidently from low-fidelity concepts to polished UI
Content & Strategy
- Experience organizing complex content into clear, user-friendly structures
- Understanding of how content and UX work together
- Ability to think critically about messaging, hierarchy, and user intent
Technical Awareness
- Understanding of responsive design across devices
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and front-end constraints
- Experience working with CMS-driven websites
- Understanding of Agile workflows (Scrum, Kanban)
Accessibility & Best Practices
- Experience designing for WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards
- Strong knowledge of UX/UI best practices and inclusive design principles
Nice to Have
- Experience with interactive exhibits, museums, or educational content
- Motion design or light animation (After Effects or similar)
- Experience designing for large-format or touchscreen environments

Pay: $63,035.24 - $85,913.41 per year
