Role summary

We are seeking a Technology Product Manager to define and execute product strategy, driving innovation and growth in alignment with business goals. This role involves analyzing market trends, translating business needs into detailed product requirements (PRDs and user stories), and managing the entire product lifecycle from concept to sunsetting. You will collaborate closely with engineering, design, and QA teams, utilizing data analysis and A/B testing to optimize features. Key responsibilities include defining and tracking KPIs, communicating progress to stakeholders, and applying Agile/Scrum methodologies. The ideal candidate has 4-9 years of product management experience, a strong understanding of software development, and excellent analytical and communication skills.

Role & responsibilities:

1. Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with business goals.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings to identify opportunities.
  • Make data-driven decisions for product prioritization and feature selection.

2. Product Development & Execution

  • Translate business requirements into detailed product requirements (PRDs) and user stories.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and QA teams to deliver high-quality products on time.
  • Manage the product lifecycle: launch, iteration, scaling, and sunsetting.

3. Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate product strategy, progress, and KPIs to internal teams and executives.
  • Balance priorities across cross-functional teams while managing trade-offs.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customers and external partners regarding product needs.

4. Analytics & Performance Monitoring

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics.
  • Conduct A/B testing, usability studies, and data analysis to optimize product features.
  • Use analytics tools (SQL, Tableau, Looker, or similar) to generate insights for continuous improvement.

5. Process & Leadership

  • Apply Agile/Scrum methodologies: sprint planning, backlog management, retrospectives.
  • Mentor junior PMs or cross-functional team members as required.
  • Facilitate workshops and brainstorming sessions to drive innovation.

Preferred candidate profile:

1. Experience

  • 4 to 9 years in product management or related roles (preferably in technology or SaaS).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in agile environments.
  • Track record of launching successful products from concept to market.

2. Education

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • MBA or masters degree is a plus for strategic/product leadership roles.

3. Skills

  • Strong understanding of software development and technical architecture.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and product analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

4. Soft Skills & Traits

  • Strategic thinking with ability to see the “big picture.”
  • Customer-centric mindset; ability to empathize with user needs.
  • Strong decision-making skills under uncertainty.
  • Adaptable to multicultural environments (critical for Japan and Canada).

5. Optional / Preferred Extras

  • Experience in AI/ML, mobile apps, or SaaS platforms.
  • Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N2/N1) for Japan-based roles.
  • Exposure to international markets or global product launches.
  • Certifications: CSPO, Pragmatic Institute, or PMI-ACP/PMP.
