Micro Mode is seeking an experienced MRP Systems Configuration & Data Engineer to lead a critical initiative focused on preparing the organization for a smooth migration to a next-generation MRP system. This role combines deep manufacturing systems expertise with strong data engineering and process optimization skills.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on analytical leader who can evaluate our current MRP system configuration, identify gaps, design future-state structures, and simultaneously develop automated, accurate reporting tools that elevate planning, forecasting, and operational decision making.

Primary Responsibilities — MRP System Analysis & Future-State Design

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the existing MRP system configuration, including all master data and transactional workflows.
  • Identify shortfalls, inconsistencies, and structural weaknesses that could hinder operational efficiency or future migration.
  • Develop a detailed, executable plan for restructuring the MRP environment to enable a seamless transition to a new MRP platform.
  • Evaluate and redefine all MRP-related elements, including but not limited to:
  • - Work center definitions and structure
  • - Work center capacity rules and standards
  • - Work center loading logic
  • - Time standards and labor measurement methodologies
  • - Detailed routing design and accuracy
  • - Inventory setup, parameters, and control logic
  • - Item masters, BOM accuracy, and planning parameters
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Planning, Quality, and IT to ensure alignment between system configuration and actual operational processes.
  • Document future-state MRP structures, configuration standards, and governance processes.

Secondary Responsibilities — Reporting Automation & Data Tools Development

This workstream will run in parallel with the MRP redesign.

  • Analyze and eliminate manual reporting processes by designing automated, data-driven tools.
  • Build accurate, timely dashboards and analytics for:
  • - Production planning
  • - Capacity planning and loading
  • - Forecasting and demand trends
  • - Inventory visibility and accuracy
  • - Operational KPI tracking
  • Develop databases, scripts, and reporting frameworks that ensure clean, reliable data flows across departments.
  • Partner with functional managers to translate reporting needs into robust, scalable tools.
  • Ensure all tools are user-friendly, well documented, and integrated with future MRP architecture.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in MRP configuration management, including system architecture, data structuring, and manufacturing master data setup.
  • Strong experience in data collection, database scripting, and coding (e.g., SQL, Python, or similar).
  • Demonstrated expertise in manufacturing workflows, routing structures, work center capacity planning, and inventory management principles.
  • Experience improving or migrating ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, Infor, IFS, ABAS, Plex, etc.).
  • Proven ability to design and implement automated reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, process control, and data integrity governance.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with discrete, highprecision manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience with systems used in aerospace, defense, or RF component production.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server, Power BI, or similar analytics platforms.
