Overview

ForwardIT is seeking experienced AI/ML Engineers to design, develop, and deploy enterprise generative AI capabilities within a federal production environment. The total hours allocated for this labor category are substantial, and we anticipate filling multiple positions. This is a fully remote engagement under a government subcontract with a full-time schedule. Daily availability during core hours is required for brief check-ins; all other hours are flexible. Government contracting or federal environment experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions using AWS Bedrock, Lex, and Kendra to enable natural language query and conversational AI capabilities
  • Implement NLP pipelines, prompt engineering, and model optimization to ensure accuracy and performance in production
  • Integrate AI services with enterprise data sources, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability
  • Support testing, tuning, and deployment of AI models in compliance with federal Responsible AI standards
  • Collaborate with cloud architects, integration engineers, and DevSecOps to deliver production-ready capabilities
  • Contribute to technical documentation and code review processes

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of AI/ML engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with AWS AI/ML services, specifically Bedrock, Lex, and/or Kendra
  • Proficiency in Python and relevant ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, etc.)
  • Experience with NLP pipelines, prompt engineering, and LLM deployment
  • Familiarity with federal Responsible AI principles and compliance requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Federal government IT contracting experience
  • AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty or equivalent
  • Experience deploying AI in FedRAMP Moderate or GovCloud environments
  • Background integrating AI services with enterprise systems (ServiceNow, Active Directory, etc.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
