Role summary

Jacobs is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for its Blacklynx company to develop and implement space mission architecture models. This role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure system integration and performance. Responsibilities include developing simulations for space mission architectures, implementing software for operational algorithms, rigorous testing and validation of models, and preparing technical documentation. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, 5+ years of experience, proficiency in Go, Java, or Python, experience with Git and Atlassian tools, knowledge of space-based collection, and spacecraft orbits. A TS/SCI clearance is mandatory. The role operates in a hybrid work environment.

Your impact
Blacklynx, a Jacobs company, is seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer Lead to join our dynamic team. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, and implementation of space mission architecture models. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the successful integration and performance of these systems.

  • Contributes to implementing a group of tasks associated with projects, programs or functions.
  • Expected to execute and complete assigned tasks or assignments.
  • Contributes to achievement of project or assignment objectives and outcomes.
  • May provide technical/functional guidance and support to other team members as needed.
  • Works with teammates and occasionally vendors, contractors, customers and/or partners.
  • Proactively communicates status to team lead.
  • Seeks ways to learn and understand customer mission and needs and applies technical/functional knowledge to produce high quality work.
  • Meets deadlines and identifies issues that may impact customer support.
  • Develop and implement space mission architecture simulations
  • Develop, and implement software to host operational algorithms and evaluate their efficacy
  • Ensure models and tools are vigorously tested and validated.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure system requirements are met.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports.

Here's what you'll need

  • TS/SCI Clearance required to start in this role
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field +5 Years relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in Go, Java, Python
  • Proficiency with Git and the Atlassian tool suite (Bitbucket, Jira, …)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Experience with scheduling problems
  • Knowledge of SpaceBased collection phenomenologies (RF, EOIR, SAR, …)
  • Knowledge of spacecraft orbits and attitudes

The base salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $140,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
