This role offers the opportunity to lead and evolve a company’s core engineering platforms, driving innovation, reliability, and operational excellence across multiple technical teams. You will oversee Platform, SRE, and MLOps functions, ensuring systems scale efficiently while supporting rapid product development and customer growth. The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with product, data, and application engineering teams, setting technical vision, best practices, and standards. You will build and mentor high-performing teams, establish metrics for platform performance, and make strategic trade-offs between speed, reliability, and operational cost. Accountabilities
- Own the platform strategy across Platform, MLOps, and SRE, aligning with company and product goals.
- Lead, grow, and mentor senior ICs and managers across multiple teams, fostering strong technical leadership and healthy team cultures.
- Define and evolve the platform vision, including developer experience, internal tooling, CI/CD, infrastructure, observability, and reliability standards.
- Oversee MLOps systems to support model development, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management in production.
- Partner with Product, ML, Data, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure platform meets current and future needs.
- Balance speed, stability, and operational excellence, making thoughtful trade-offs in innovation, cost, and reliability.
- Set metrics and accountability for platform performance, reliability, and developer productivity.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience leading platform, infrastructure, or reliability teams in a scaling startup environment.
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, rapid growth, and transitions from early-stage systems to mature, repeatable platforms.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native infrastructure (GCP preferred), Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience supporting production ML systems, including model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated track record of building reliable, scalable systems for fast-moving product teams.
- Excellent people leadership, coaching managers, and growing inclusive, high-performing teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.
- Experience with data- or ML-heavy products; familiarity with geospatial data, image processing, or mapping technology is a plus.
