Azure Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)

Position Summary
Seeking a hands-on infrastructure engineer to design, build, migrate, and support Microsoft Azure environments. This role will focus on Azure operations, cloud migrations, hybrid connectivity, infrastructure reliability, and reducing dependence on on-prem data centers.
Key Responsibilities

- Support Azure subscriptions, resource groups, RBAC, policies, tagging, and environment separation.
- Manage Azure compute, storage, networking, and related platform services.
- Monitor performance, availability, and operational health.
- Manage Azure budgets, alerts, and usage reporting.

- Assess on-prem workloads for migration to Azure.
- Execute migration plans and validate post-migration stability.
- Support the retirement of legacy systems and the reduction of the data center footprint.

- Support connectivity between Azure, offices, and field locations.
- Manage VPN, DNS, routing, and secure access.

- Maintain patching, logging, secure access, and least privilege standards.
- Support vulnerability remediation and audit documentation.

- Build scripts, templates, and runbooks.
- Maintain diagrams, dependencies, and support documentation.

- Support Microsoft Fabric / related Azure data services as needed.

- Participate in after-hours support when needed.

Required Experience
- 5+ years infrastructure engineering experience
- 3+ years hands-on Azure production support
- Experience with Azure compute, storage, networking
- Experience migrating on-prem workloads to Azure
- Windows Server and/or Linux administration
- Knowledge of VPN, DNS, routing
- Experience with monitoring, backup, and recovery
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Preferred
- Microsoft Fabric or Azure data services
- Azure certifications
- Scripting / automation experience
