Infrastructure Engineer III - API Gateway, Python
Role summary
JPMorgan Chase is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer III with expertise in API Gateway and Python to join their Infrastructure Platforms team. Responsibilities include managing large-scale infrastructure for API Gateway platforms, implementing software solutions for operational problems, ensuring end-to-end monitoring, and driving capacity management. The ideal candidate will have formal software engineering training, 3+ years of experience, hands-on SRE/operations experience, strong knowledge of infrastructure disciplines, scripting languages like Python, and experience with public and private cloud technologies.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Maintaining and managing a large scale infrastructure of servers, network and databases hosting the API Gateway Platforms
- Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applications
- Finding opportunity for converting operational problems into a software solution
- Resolves most nuances and determines appropriate escalation path
- Executes conventional approaches to build or break down technical problems
- Drives the daily activities supporting the standard infrastructure and the capacity process around it
- Partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses
- Considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications
- Be accountable for making significant decisions for a project consisting of multiple technologies and applications
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Hands on experience on Operations and SRE of Infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
- Thinking Observability, SLA and SLO
- Strong knowledge of one or more scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)
- Experience with multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds
- Drives to develop infrastructure engineering knowledge of additional domains, data fluency, and automation knowledge
