Data Scientist and Business Analyst
Role summary
Kent Building Supplies is seeking a Data Scientist and Business Analyst to modernize supply chain, inventory management, and replenishment operations. This role involves framing analytics problems, data discovery, modeling, exploratory analysis, feature engineering, algorithm selection, training, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Responsibilities include requirements elicitation, documentation, building use cases, developing test cases, documenting business processes using BPMN, and translating business needs into technical solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Python, SQL, ML algorithms, and statistics, with at least 3 years of work experience in a business environment. Expertise in Microsoft Technologies (O365, D365, Azure DevOps) and securely integrating systems is also required.
Job Description
Kent Building Supplies is seeking a Data Scientist and Business Analyst to support our supply chain, inventory management, and replenishment operations. This role is ideal for someone passionate about modernizing processes and leveraging data-driven insights to drive business performance.
This roll is a collaborative member of the Analytics team who creates value out of data. Such a person proactively retrieves information from various sources and analyzes it for better understanding about how the business performs, and builds data driven tools that automate or facilitate processes within the company leading to improved business outcomes. Ultimately the objective is to develop and implement advanced analytics and AI Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Framing of analytics problems to drive value
- Data Discovery, Sourcing and modeling
- Exploratory data analysis and feature engineering
- Algorithm selection, training, testing, and deployment
- Model deployment and maintenance
- Change management and user adoption
- PL-300 certification will be an asset.
- Power BI reporting specialist
- Hands-on experience with Power BI
- Experience in Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate
- Understanding customer demand versus IT supply
- Understanding key business data and quality
- Performing requirements elicitation & documentation
- Building use cases (definition and development) and developing test cases
- Documenting business processes using BPMN
- Understanding capability of analytics tools and enabling business to act from analytical insight
- Managing integrity, confidentiality, and security of all datasets
- Expediting data analysis and reporting
- Understanding the risk tolerance/profile of the business
- Collaborating with design and architecture
- Translating business process model to technical realization
Qualifications
- Master's Degree/ bachelor’s degree in computer science/ Math’s/ Physics/ Economics/ Engineering
- Prefer to have certification on Azure Data Scientist
- Experience in Data engineering and Data Visualization
- Hands on experience in Python and SQL
- Knowledge of ML algorithms
- Knowledge of statistics and its application in data driven problem solving
- At least 3 years work experience in a business environment
- Preferably experience in an IT work environment
- Expert experience in Microsoft Technologies, particularly in O365, D365, and Azure Dev Ops (ADO)
- Experience with securely integrating external and internal systems
