KIDORCA, a Canadian kidswear brand, seeks a part-time Product Designer & Production Lead for their on-site role in Port Coquitlam, BC. About the Role
We are looking for a Product Designer & Production Lead who can take ownership of our collections from concept to final production.
This is a hybrid role combining:
- Apparel design
- Product development
- Production leadership
You will be responsible not only for how products look, but also for how they are executed, produced, and delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Product Development
- Develop seasonal kidswear collections aligned with KIDORCA’s aesthetic
- Create technical flats and detailed tech packs
- Design custom prints and surface patterns
- Select fabrics, trims, and finishes
- Refine silhouettes, fits, and functional details
Production Leadership
- Communicate with manufacturers (email-based)
- Lead the sampling process and revisions
- Control measurements, fit, and quality
- Review and approve samples before production
- Negotiate pricing, MOQs, and timelines
- Ensure consistency between design and final product
Brand & Visual Support
- Create catalogues and product presentations
- Support visual direction for collections
- Assist with design elements for Instagram content
Qualifications
- Experience in apparel design and product development
- Strong understanding of garment construction and technical development
- Experience working with manufacturers and managing production
- Ability to create professional tech packs
- Strong aesthetic sense (minimal, elevated, lifestyle-focused)
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable taking ownership and making decisions
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (required)
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
- Experience creating technical flats and tech packs
- Familiarity with surface pattern design
- InDesign (asset, not required but preferred)
Compensation
- $22/hour base pay
- 1% commission on net sales (based on funds deposited into the main company’s account)
- Commission is calculated monthly and paid with the monthly payroll cycle
