
Junior Software Engineer
Role summary
The Junior Software Engineer will be responsible for configuring and operating test stimulus and monitoring tools, including a Linux-based simulation system and Windows/UNIX-based message injection and monitoring systems. The role involves software development, troubleshooting code and scripts, and diagnosing workstation/server configurations. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline is preferred, along with 6+ years of general work experience and 2+ years of directly related experience. Proficiency in Java programming and scripting in Windows/Linux environments is required. A Security+ certification and a minimum DoD Secret Clearance are mandatory.
Perform activities focused on the configuration and operation of a wide range of test stimulus and monitoring tools, to include a major Linux-based simulation system and various tactical message injection and monitoring systems (both Windows and UNIX based) Conduct development of software as directed Other duties as assigned

- 2+ years of directly related experience required
- Experience must include:
- Programming in Java and scripting in the Windows and Linux environment
- Troubleshooting code and script
- Troubleshooting workstation and server configurations
- Experience with ballistic missile defense operations and interconnectivity, theater, midcourse, and terminal missile defense, and war gaming laboratories and interfaces preferred
- Knowledge of strategic and theater missile defense weapon systems, sensor systems, tactical communications, and C2BMC Environments preferred
- Experience with IP networking concepts and troubleshooting preferred
- Familiarity with tactical message formats preferred
- Knowledge of DoD communications systems, and networks/protocols preferred
- Knowledge of test planning and test conduct within laboratory environment preferred
Preferred Experience With
- Running/managing systems and services in a virtualized environment (VMware)
- Security patching and software management using RedHat Satellite
- Integrating NetBox with automation tools
- Software lifecycle and development
Security
- Must be a US citizen
- Candidate must be in possession of a minimum DoD issued Secret Clearance
Physical Requirements
- Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms
- Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
- Adhere to safety protocols when in work areas requiring use of PPE (e.g. eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, etc.)
- Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time
