Role summary

Kimmel Studio, a multi-disciplinary high-design firm, seeks a Design Lead Architect to spearhead front-end design processes across architecture, interiors, and landscape projects. This role involves direct collaboration with the Managing Principal to shape project aesthetics and conceptual direction. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor or Master of Architecture, 6-10+ years of experience in a high-design environment, and mastery of 3D modeling software like SketchUp, 3DSMax, or Rhino. A strong portfolio showcasing the design process is essential. This is an onsite, full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits, offering a high-growth opportunity to influence national design projects.

Are you obsessed with the "why" behind a curve, the narrative of a space, and the precision of a detail? Kimmel Studio is a high-design studio that refuses to be put in a box. Whether it’s a boutique hotel, a sleek industrial product, a lush landscape, or a private residence, we approach every project with the same level of architectural rigor and creative soul.

We are looking for a Design Lead Architect who lives and breathes design. This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit in the back of the room; this is a seat at the table, working directly with the Managing Principal to shape the aesthetic and conceptual future of our projects across the country.

As our Design Lead, you will be the engine of our front-end design process. You won’t just be drawing buildings; you’ll be crafting experiences. This role is built for a visionary who can jump between typologies—architecture, interiors, and landscape—without missing a beat.

  • Front-End Vision: Lead the conceptual phase, taking raw ideas and turning them into sophisticated, buildable design narratives.
  • Direct Collaboration: Work side-by-side with the Managing Principal, acting as a creative partner in the design evolution of every project.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Mastery: Fluidly move between architectural scale, interior detailing, and industrial design.
  • 3D Storytelling: Utilize advanced 3D software to iterate rapidly and communicate complex ideas clearly.

WHAT YOU BRING / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture Required.
  • 6-10+ years of professional experience in a high-design environment.
  • Mastery of 3D modeling software (SketchUp, 3DSMax, Rhino, or similar) is a must. Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD is highly preferred.
  • An extreme excitement for design culture, trends, and history.
  • Portfolio: We want to see how you think. Your portfolio must showcase your design process—sketches, iterations, and the "messy" middle—not just the final renders.
