Kutztown University invites applications for a Data Scientist in the Department of Institutional Research. In this role, you will play a lead part in transforming complex institutional data into actionable insights that drive university strategic decision-making.You will collaborate closely with academic and campus leaders, applying advanced data modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques to support planning, policy development, and compliance reporting. A hybrid remote/in-office schedule is available following an initial fully on-campus period.Implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to analyze large, complex data setsDesign and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and validate predictive modelsTransform raw data into actionable insights supporting university strategic decision-makingCollaborate with academic and campus leaders to identify data needs and deliver data-driven recommendationsCreate data visualization dashboards to communicate findings clearly across the campus communityBuild and maintain curated data sets and self-service reporting tools for institutional data accessGenerate internal and external reports on institutional data and outcomesMonitor campus accountability and assessment measures, including state-determined performance metricsSupport identification of institutional issues and analysis of trends to inform planning and policyEnsure accurate, timely data for required federal and state compliance reportsMaintain a campus presence to support ongoing partnerships with university leadership
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field1–3 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related fieldProficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQLExperience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platformsStrong understanding of statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniquesExcellent critical thinking skills and attention to detailAbility to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiencesStrong organizational and project management skills
