Role summary
Kwik Trip, Inc. is seeking a full-time Data Governance Analyst to manage and expand its enterprise Data Catalog. This role will provide foundational support for data assets, assist with daily governance operations, policy compliance, and new project initiatives. Responsibilities include serving as a Data Catalog subject matter expert, curating data assets, monitoring catalog health, creating reports, gathering requirements, and developing process documentation. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, basic knowledge of Data Governance concepts, and familiarity with metadata management tools. Experience with data catalog platforms like Alation, Collibra, or Atlan is a plus.

Data Governance Analyst 1 – Data Governance - La Crosse, WI: Kwik Trip, Inc.’s Data Governance Office is seeking a full-time Data Governance Analyst. This position will primarily focus on managing and expanding the enterprise Data Catalog, providing foundational support to ensure accurate, accessible, and well-governed data assets. Additionally, this analyst will support day-to-day governance operations, assist with policy compliance, participate in new project initiatives, and collaborate with business teams.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as Data Catalog subject matter expert to develop and build catalog templates, process, workflow orchestration in enterprise data catalog
- Provide support for data and analytics stewards to curate assets, use the catalog, and increase overall adoption of the platform
- Curate data assets within the catalog to meet organizational needs
- Regularly monitor health of data catalog processes and troubleshoot issues as needed
- Create ad-hoc reports and analytics as directed by leadership
- Assist with requirements gathering, business needs understanding, business process assessment and convert requirements into actionable tasks
- Assist with development, review, and modification of standards and procedures for the Data Governance processes as the program matures
- Perform periodic audits and complete operational governance tasks to facilitate ongoing compliance of implemented governance protocols
- Assist with the development of internal process documentation and training materials
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Management, or Information Systems preferred, or equivalent professional experience
- Basic knowledge of Data Governance concepts and principles
- Knowledge of or ability to learn metadata management software tools
- Knowledge of business standards and process documentation
- Independently identify issues and recommend practical, actionable solutions
- Knowledge of or ability to learn technical data concepts (schemas, tables, reports, dashboards), software application configuration, workflow orchestration, SDLC processes
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn SQL is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Work effectively with other departments to achieve enterprise goals
- Prior experience with Alation, Collibra, Atlan, or other data catalog platforms is a plus
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours.
