Role summary
L3Harris is seeking a junior-level Software Engineer to join the Automation Group in the Marine Division. This role involves participating in all phases of the automation lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, documentation, testing, and validation. The engineer will support project meetings, address control-sequence logic questions, assist with system acceptance, and participate in sea trials, which may involve worldwide travel. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering and experience with PLC or other controller-based control-sequence algorithm development are required. Bilingualism in French and English is also mandatory due to contractual requirements. Preferred skills include proficiency in MS Office, Agile methodologies, and experience with multiple operating systems.

Challenge as a Software Engineer:
We are seeking an junior-level automation/application developer to join the Automation Group in the Marine Division. The selected candidate will be reliable, creative, and open-minded, and will contribute to all stages of automation development.
What will you do:
- Participating in every phase of the automation lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, coding, documentation, testing, and validation of the automation software.
- Participating in project meetings and supporting team members by addressing questions related to control-sequence logic.
- Supporting system acceptance activities with the customer.
- Participating in sea trials, which may include travel to various locations worldwide.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering.
- Experience in developing control-sequence algorithms using PLCs or other types of controllers.
- Experience with Siemens S7 Safety preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with solid technical judgment.
- Strong English writing skills
- Bilingualism (French & English) required. The knowledge of the English language, other than the French language is necessary due to contractual requirements.
Preferred Additionnal Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced agile environment and work effectively as part of a team.
- Results-driven approach with strong planning and organizational skills.
- Dependable, responsible, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
- Experience working with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of naval and commercial certification standards and related processes.
- Experience using Atlassian Jira and MS Office tools.
Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
