Director, Insurance and Risk
Role summary
LA28 is seeking a Director, Insurance and Risk to lead its enterprise insurance strategy for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role involves setting direction for the insurance portfolio, Owner Controlled Insurance Program, captive insurance entity, and complex indemnity and litigation strategies. Key responsibilities include directing the global insurance portfolio, overseeing the OCIP, managing the captive insurance vehicle, leading high-exposure claims, and modeling Total Cost of Risk. The role requires 10+ years of progressive leadership in risk management or insurance brokerage, with experience in OCIP/CCIP and captive insurance strategies. Technical mastery of excess casualty, specialized coverages, contractual indemnity, and TCOR is essential. A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's or JD preferred. Valued experience includes relevant designations (CPCU, CRM, ARM), legal credentials, and experience in mega-sporting events.

Role Purpose
You will lead LA28's enterprise insurance strategy, protecting the organization, its venues, and its people as Los Angeles prepares to host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Reporting to theChief Financial Oficer, you set the direction for the multi-layered insurance portfolio, the Owner Controlled Insurance Program, captive insurance entity, and complex indemnity and litigation strategies. You establish the standards, workflows, and financial models that govern the enterprise insurance program in partnership with LA28’s insurance brokers, underwriters and advisors.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $182,000 - $239,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
