Data Scientist
Role summary
LabsCubed seeks a Data Scientist to bridge mechanical testing, data analysis, and software. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data from test systems, validating new equipment, and resolving discrepancies. The Data Scientist will develop scripts, tools, and AI/ML models to automate analysis, detect anomalies, and enhance data quality. Collaboration with engineering, sales, and customers is key to implementing improvements and maintaining confidence in results, directly influencing the development of advanced testing machines for the rubber and plastics industry.
LabsCubed is looking for a Data Scientist who thrives at the intersection of mechanical testing, data analysis, and software. You will ensure our test systems produce accurate, consistent data, validate new equipment, resolve discrepancies, and work with sales and customers to maintain confidence in our results. This is a high-impact role where your analyses directly shape the development of cutting-edge testing machines for rubber and plastics manufacturers.
What You’ll Do
- Audit and analyze test data from tensile, tear, flexure, and other mechanical systems
- Validate new machines to ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable data
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies with engineering, sales, and customers
- Build scripts, tools, and AI/ML models to automate analysis, detect anomalies, and improve data quality
- Collaborate across engineering, sales and customers to implement improvements and track results
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar
- Strong Python or similar programming skills
- Solid foundation in statistics, experimental design, and root cause analysis
- Experience with structured lab or industrial datasets
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with mechanical testing equipment and standards (ASTM D638, D1004, D790)
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Background in measurement systems analysis, gauge R&R, or Six Sigma
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $53,094.34-$116,898.51 per year
