Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Streaming Infrastructure)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (streaming Infrastructure) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will drive meaningful impact across key initiatives and partner cross-functionally to deliver measurable outcomes. You will work closely with stakeholders to execute against strategic priorities and scale performance. The position offers the opportunity to influence both strategy and execution in a high-growth environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $169,000 – $240,000 annually
Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, guiding engineers through problem-solving
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle
• Proactively identify and advocate for solutions to project, process, or technology issues
• Support operations by monitoring metrics and maintaining availability of team artifacts
• Foster a culture of quality through code reviews and design standards advocacy
• Mentor team members by providing feedback and leading by example

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in backend system design and development using Python or Kotlin
• Proven track record of developing highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• Strong expertise with stream processing frameworks like Spark, Samza, Flink, or Beam
• Experience with the Confluent Platform (Schema Registry, Tableflow) is a plus
• Ability to define technical plans for delivering significant features with elegant designs and high-quality code
• Skilled in making significant changes to large codebases safely
• Proficient communication skills for effective collaboration with global engineering teams
