Senior Cloud Security Engineer - WAF Specialist
Role summary
Seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer with WAF specialization for a remote, US-based role in the Information Technology sector. This position focuses on defining and enhancing enterprise Edge Defense architecture, deploying automated WAAP patterns, and managing WAAP vendors. The role requires deep expertise in WAF/WAAP controls for multi-account environments, strong knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, and experience in regulated industries. You will collaborate with engineering teams, monitor security KPIs, and mentor junior engineers, driving security initiatives and influencing strategy in a high-growth environment. For our client, we are seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer - WAF Specialist to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will drive meaningful impact across key initiatives and partner cross-functionally to deliver measurable outcomes. You will work closely with stakeholders to execute against strategic priorities and scale performance. The position offers the opportunity to influence both strategy and execution in a high-growth environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $184,000 – $230,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Define and enhance enterprise Edge Defense architecture across various environments
- Lead the deployment of automated WAAP patterns across the organization
- Evaluate and manage vendors for WAAP technologies
- Establish frameworks for infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code standards
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to align security measures from the design phase
- Monitor program-level KPIs related to edge security performance
- Mentor junior engineers on edge and cloud security best practices
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in cloud security engineering roles
- Deep expertise in WAAP or WAF controls designed for multi-account environments
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure-as-code practices
- Proven ability to drive security initiatives across diverse engineering teams
- Experience in regulated industries with scalable security controls
- Customer-oriented mindset, capable of building strong partnerships with technical teams
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools in security engineering
