Role summary

The Associate Vice President, Security Engineering & Operations will lead and scale security initiatives within a leading Information Technology company. This role involves building and managing an AI-enabled Security Operations Center (SOC) for threat detection and incident response, overseeing DevSecOps integration, and driving security architecture design, including zero trust. The AVP will manage a 24/7 security team, own vulnerability management programs, and set strategic vision while managing departmental budgets. The position requires 15+ years in cybersecurity leadership, with 5 years in SaaS cloud-native environments, and a proven track record in enterprise-level incident response, application security, or DevSecOps.

For our client, we are seeking a Associate Vice President, Security Engineering & Operations to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will drive meaningful impact across key initiatives and partner cross-functionally to deliver measurable outcomes. You will work closely with stakeholders to execute against strategic priorities and scale performance. The position offers the opportunity to influence both strategy and execution in a high-growth environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000 annually
Responsibilities

  • Build and lead an AI-enabled Security Operations Center (SOC) for threat detection and incident response
  • Define and own performance KPIs for SOC and engineering delivery
  • Manage a 24/7 security team for event monitoring and incident response
  • Oversee integration of security into CI/CD pipelines and threat modeling
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders for shared threat intelligence
  • Drive design of security systems including zero trust architecture and identity security
  • Lead offensive and defensive security operations like red teaming and blue team resilience
  • Own vulnerability management programs and establish prioritization frameworks
  • Set strategic vision and manage departmental budgets
  • Oversee performance management for security teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, engineering, or related field
  • 15+ years in cybersecurity or engineering leadership, with 5 years in SaaS cloud-native environments
  • Proven experience leading incident response, application security, or DevSecOps at enterprise level
  • Deep expertise in DevSecOps, cloud-native security, software engineering, and automation
  • Fiscal responsibility in managing budgets and consolidating tooling expenses
  • Relevant certifications: CISSP, CISM, SANS/GIAC, CSSLP, OSCP
  • Ability to demonstrate security effectiveness with measurable outcomes
