Role summary

The API Experience team at Lambda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain core cloud APIs for customers ranging from self-serve public cloud users to large AI companies. This role involves end-to-end feature development, collaborating across engineering teams, and partnering with Product Managers. You will own production features, participate in incident response, and design observability processes. The ideal candidate has strong backend experience with Python, Unix, and Postgres, along with proven ability to handle complex features in ambiguous, deadline-driven environments. Experience with APIs, CI/CD, cloud-native services (AWS, Kubernetes), and observability is crucial.

### Who you are
- Backend experience building business-critical services using Python, Unix/Command line, Django or FastAPI, and Postgres
- Proven experience owning complex features end-to-end, from defining problems with Product to GA release and measuring success criteria, in highly ambiguous environments under tight deadlines
- Proven ability to clearly communicate trade offs in scoping and timelines
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining developer-facing APIs and documentation
- Additional Core Experience
- CI/CD: Automation for testing and deployment workflows
- Reliability & Observability: Logging, alerting, and building highly available systems
- Cloud Native Services: Experience with AWS, Okta, Cloudflare, etc
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Infrastructure as Code (e.g.,Terraform, Atlantis, Crossplane)
- Experience in ML, AI, or data science
- Application security and web hardening
- Engineering leadership or mentorship experience

### What the job involves
- The API Experience team is responsible for Lambda’s customer-facing Core Cloud APIs — everything from creating a new instance or attaching storage to managing VPCs. We deliver a delightful, consistent, and cohesive API-first experience to all our customers, from self-serve Public Cloud users to the largest, most demanding AI companies on the planet
- Build end-to-end features for Lambda Cloud
- Contribute to both frontend and backend code across existing and new features
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Platform, and Infrastructure teams to deliver solutions that cut across the stack
- Partner with Product Managers to design, scope, and deliver features that are critical to customer success, without compromising on our product quality
- Work directly with Superintelligence customers’ engineering teams
- Own production features and systems, including participating in incident response rotations
- Design and implement observability and maintenance processes for the new features we build
