Role summary

LayerZero is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and operate the data infrastructure powering their omnichain interoperability vision. This role involves creating reliable, scalable, and accessible data systems for on-chain and off-chain data. You will work with batch and real-time systems, apply dimensional modeling and SQL best practices, and utilize tools like Snowflake, Postgres, Airflow, and AWS. Collaboration with product, engineering, and analytics teams is key to making complex data accessible via APIs and dashboards. The position requires 5+ years of experience in data engineering, strong SQL and Python/Go skills, and familiarity with modern data warehouses and cloud environments.

As a
Data Engineer
, you’ll design, build, and operate the data infrastructure that makes this data reliable, scalable, and accessible. You’ll work across batch and real-time systems, partner closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams, and help shape how data is used across a rapidly growing blockchain ecosystem.
What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain reliable batch and real-time data pipelines processing blockchain, system, and third-party data
  • Apply dimensional data modelling (Kimball or similar) and SQL best practices to create high-performance, analytics- and API-ready datasets
  • Build and scale data infrastructure using tools like Snowflake, Postgres, Airflow, AWS (CDK), Docker, and ECS
  • Partner with analysts, engineers, and product teams to make complex data accessible via APIs, dashboards, and BI tools such as Hex
  • Ensure data quality through monitoring, testing, validation, and clear documentation
  • Optimize pipelines, queries, and infrastructure for performance, cost, and reliability
  • Contribute to both batch processing and real-time streaming systems across a modern Web3 data stack

Required
WHO YOU ARE

  • 5+ years of experience building scalable data systems as a data engineer or in a similar role
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with dimensional data modelling
  • Experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Python or Go for pipeline and data system development
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow
  • Experience deploying and operating data systems in AWS and containerized environments
  • Comfortable performing and communicating strategic data analysis, and influencing data strategy
  • Curious about Web3 and excited to tackle novel data challenges in a fast-moving environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with real-time or streaming data pipelines
  • Exposure to blockchain data and Web3 technologies
  • Experience designing and operating APIs
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (CDK, Terraform, or similar)
