Role summary

The Louisiana Department of Health's Office of Public Health is seeking a Tuberculosis Director to lead statewide efforts in disease surveillance, treatment, and prevention. Join the Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Public Health as the Tuberculosis Director, where you’ll play a critical leadership role in protecting public health statewide. ## Minimum Qualifications

Seven years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree or a Juris Doctorate plus three years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Position-Specific Details:

  • Supervises and coordinates all programmatic and administrative activities (budget, treatment, screening, epidemiology, etc.) relating to the statewide Tuberculosis Control Program. Develops current and long-range plans, policies and procedures for administering the comprehensive TB Control Program. Advises the Center Director regarding the extent of Tuberculosis disease in Louisiana and necessarv actions needed to contain transmission of the disease.
  • Monitors state and federal revenues and expenditures of the statewide TB program budget and formulates budgetary projections. Prepares, submits, manages, and monitors the Louisiana TB Control CDC Cooperative Agreement.
  • Drafts and finalizes contracts and Memorandums of Understanding; monitors/manages budgetary and programmatic aspects of those agreements assuring compliance with requirements/deliverables and recommends payment approval of invoices.
  • Responds proactively to disease outbreaks, audit findings, programmatic challenges and issues; coordinates TB Program responses and reports to the Center Director, auditors and federal/state governmental entities. Provides on-going consultation and technical assistance to all public and private professional and support staff on TB programmatic issues.
  • Serves as the agency representative for TB Control issues on statewide task forces, work groups, councils. And coalitions. Prepares and provides information to state and federal otficials in order they may implement effective legislation and allocate appropriate levels of funding for TB Control.
  • Develops and implements TB Control training programs along with the Medical Director and State Epidemiologist for public and private personnel (health units, jails, hospitals, epidemiologists) involved in infectious disease control.
