AWS GovCloud Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer
Job Type:
Full-Time | Remote/Hybrid
Hiring Priority:
Immediate
About the Role
We are building a multi-AZ, fault-tolerant platform on AWS GovCloud with a 99.5% uptime SLA. This is a foundational role — the infrastructure decisions made here affect every other deliverable on the program. We need someone who has done this before in a government cloud environment, not just a commercial AWS context.
What You'll Do
- Design and manage AWS GovCloud VPCs, subnets, NAT gateways, security groups, and NACLs
- Deploy and maintain Amazon Aurora MySQL clusters with read replicas, failover, and RDS Proxy
- Configure and manage EC2 Auto Scaling groups, Application Load Balancers, and health checks
- Implement and maintain ElastiCache (Redis) for session management and caching
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
- Manage CI/CD pipelines via AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
- Configure AWS WAF rule sets for OWASP Top 10 protection and CloudFront CDN
- Set up CloudWatch monitoring, alarms, dashboards, and centralized log aggregation
- Develop and maintain automated backup strategies including Aurora snapshots and cross-region replication
- Optimize GovCloud costs through reserved instances and right-sizing
What You Bring
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud (US) — not just commercial AWS
- Strong command of VPC architecture, IAM, and organizational policies in a gov-compliant environment
- Experience deploying Aurora MySQL, ElastiCache, and EFS in production
- Proficiency with Terraform or CloudFormation for repeatable, auditable IaC
- Familiarity with environment separation strategies (production, staging, testing VPC isolation)
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and deployment automation
- Strong CloudWatch monitoring and observability practices
Nice to Have
- Experience with FedRAMP or FISMA compliance environments
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer — Professional level preferred)
Why This Role
This isn't a support role. You will own the infrastructure layer that everything else runs on. You'll work alongside a focused team on a high-visibility government program with real mission impact.
