Role summary

Lockheed Martin's Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is seeking an experienced UX Engineer to support the STAR.OS portfolio. This role focuses on developing a common operating picture for DoD partners by integrating large volumes of data with AI insights into a unified, intuitive interface. Responsibilities include designing and developing software products, creating prototypes, and designing interactive visualizations. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in UX design principles, human-computer interaction, data visualization, and design tools, with experience in front-end technologies. Collaboration with data scientists and AI engineers is key. The role may involve technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers. This is a hybrid position with part-time remote work options.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in UX design and development, with a focus on creating intuitive and interactive interfaces
  • Strong portfolio of UX design work, including examples of user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing
  • Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD, and familiarity with front-end development technologies such as React, HTML, CSS or JavaScript

Job Description
The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team is seeking a high energy experienced individual with a strong background in UI/UX development and analysis to support the Applied AI team and specifically the STAR.OS portfolio, focusing on a broad range of projects across the LAIC. The team is focused on exploiting small, innovative and agile teams to rapidly iterate and mature solutions from prototypes to deployment for utilization across the Lockheed Martin enterprise and in the field for our customers.
The selected candidate will focus on developing a common operating picture for our DoD partners, combining large volumes of data with AI sensemaking insight to provide a unified and intuitive interface. As a UX Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing software products that integrate Artificial Intelligence and data analytics capabilities, with a strong emphasis on user-centered design solutions. This will involve creating prototypes and proof-of-concepts, designing intuitive and interactive visualizations, and collaborating with data scientists and AI engineers to integrate data analytics and AI capabilities into the common operating picture.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in UX design principles, human-computer interaction, and data visualization, as well as experience with design tools. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are also essential, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The candidate may be expected to assume technical lead responsibilities and mentor junior engineers in UX design and development best practices. By joining the Lockheed Martin AI Center (LAIC) team, the selected candidate will play a critical role in supporting our DoD partners and advancing the development of AI-powered solutions.
The selected candidate can work at any major Lockheed Martin facility or part-time remotely.
