Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all machine shop activities, including manual, machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly processes.
- Supervise and mentor machinists, welders, and fabrication technicians to optimize productivity and craftsmanship.
- Develop and implement production schedules aligned with customer deadlines and quality standards.
- Ensure all equipment such as manual milling machines, manual lathes, press brake machines, and power tools are properly maintained and operated safely.
- Oversee quality control procedures using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and other gauges to meet GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications.
- Manage tooling inventory, fabrication materials, and warehouse logistics to support seamless operations.
- Enforce safety protocols including forklift operation and proper handling of hand tools while fostering a culture of safety awareness.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on CNC programming, CAM programming, SolidWorks designs, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives to eliminate waste and improve workflow efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience managing a machine shop or manufacturing environment with strong mechanical knowledge.
- Expertise in blueprint reading, CNC programming (including CNC milling machines and CNC lathes), and GD&T principles.
- Skilled in welding techniques such as MIG welding along with fabrication processes involving hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), CAM programming software, and press brake machines is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately using precision measuring instruments like micrometers and calipers.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, assembly, tooling management, and quality control standards.
- Experience operating forklifts and working within warehouse environments is preferred.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and process adjustments are essential.
