We've raised a $8.6M seed round led by Khosla Ventures and Abstract VC, launched to massive demand, and are already used by thousands of designers and engineers who want to close the gap between what they imagine and what they can ship.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer obsessed with AI who has built real systems with LLMs and agents and wants to help define a new category of creative tools.

About MagicPath

MagicPath is an infinite canvas for building software with AI. Describe what you want — a landing page, dashboard, or full app — and MagicPath generates it visually, lets you iterate on a spatial canvas, and exports production-ready code.

We're not building another chatbot wrapper. We're building the interface where design and engineering merge, enabling a single person to do what used to require an entire product team.

We're a team of 10 backed by top investors. Our CEO Pietro Schirano previously designed products at Anthropic, Brex, Uber, and Facebook, and created DesignerGPT (#1 GPT on OpenAI's store) and Claude Engineer (11K+ GitHub stars).

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at MagicPath, you'll build core product systems — including the AI generation pipeline, real-time canvas, code export engine, and agent orchestration layer — alongside a founding team that ships daily.

What You'll Do

• Architect systems powering AI-driven design generation — from prompt engineering to multi-model orchestration and real-time canvas rendering
• Build our agent infrastructure, enabling agents to reason about layout, accessibility, design systems, and code quality
• Own product surfaces end-to-end, from database to APIs to the UI
• Push the limits of LLM-powered creative workflows, experimenting with new model capabilities and interaction patterns
• Work directly with the CEO and CTO to shape product direction
• Ship fast and iterate quickly — we deploy multiple times per day

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building complex systems
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and AI agents (prompting, context management, tool use, multi-step reasoning)
• Genuine passion for AI — you follow the research and build projects on the side
• Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and modern web infrastructure
• Experience with real-time collaborative systems, canvas editors, or creative tools is a plus
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous startup environments
• High bar for craft and product quality

Bonus Points

• Contributions to open-source AI tools or frameworks
• Experience with design tools, canvas rendering, SVG/WebGL
• Background in code generation, compilers, or AST tooling
• Built AI agents, MCP servers, or developer tools
• Previous early-stage startup experience

Location

This role is in-person in New York City. We work together in our NYC office Monday–Thursday, with WFH Fridays.
