Role summary
Maison Battat Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join their team in Montreal, QC, focusing on vehicles and playsets. This role involves end-to-end design ownership, from concept ideation to final production, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and business objectives. The designer will drive the creative vision, translate consumer insights into innovative products, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and overseas partners. Responsibilities include mentoring junior designers, managing multiple projects, and ensuring product design aligns with cost targets and manufacturing constraints. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in consumer product design or the toy industry, a strong portfolio, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with experience in 3D modeling and AI tools being a plus. Knowledge of French is required for communication with Quebec-based colleagues and suppliers.

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Senior Product Designer to join our design team focusing on vehicles and playsets.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
· Lead end-to-end design ownership from concept ideation through final production, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and business objectives
· Drive the creative vision for the product line, establishing design direction, storytelling, and cohesive consumer experiences
· Translate consumer insights, market trends, and play patterns into innovative, commercially viable product concepts
· Develop and present high-quality concepts through sketches, renderings, materials, and prototypes to internal stakeholders
· Collaborate cross-functionally with cross functional development teams, engineers and overseas partners to deliver best-in-class products
· Mentor and provide creative direction to junior designers, elevating overall team output and design standards
· Lead and facilitate brainstorming sessions, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and critical thinking
· Proactively identify opportunities for new product categories, line extensions, and play experiences
· Manage multiple projects simultaneously, setting priorities and driving timelines in a fast-paced environment
· Ensure alignment between product design, packaging, cost targets, and manufacturing constraints
· Act as a key stakeholder in product reviews, providing input and making informed design decisions
Skills, Competencies & Requirements:
· 5+ years of relevant professional experience in consumer product design and/or the toy industry
· Proven track record of leading products from concept through to production, with demonstrated commercial success
· Strong portfolio showcasing innovation, storytelling, and execution across multiple product lines
· Experience working with cross-functional teams (engineering, packaging design, brand marketing) and overseas manufacturing partners
· Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently while contributing to broader team strategy
· Experience mentoring or guiding junior designers is considered an asset
· Deep understanding of consumer insights, market trends, and play patterns, with the ability to translate them into winning products
· Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost considerations
· Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for concept development, visualization, and creation of engineering development-ready assets
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook to support product tracking, communication, and development workflows
· Familiarity with product development management systems (PLM or equivalent) to manage timelines, specifications, and cross-functional coordination
· Experience with 3D modeling and rendering tools (e.g., SolidWorks, KeyShot) is considered an asset
· Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate ideation, concept generation, and early-stage visualization within the design process is considered an asset

Knowledge of French is required for positions permanently located in Quebec so incumbents can communicate with their colleagues and suppliers in Quebec as necessary. French-language training is offered to all incumbents in permanent positions in Quebec who do not have a good knowledge of French.

Another language is required for this position in order to communicate with clients and suppliers, who are mostly located outside Quebec.
