
Fixed Operations Manager
Role summary
The Fixed Operations Manager oversees the service, parts, and body shop departments, focusing on reputation, efficiency, and profitability. This role requires 3-5 years of progressive experience in dealership fixed operations, strong leadership, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include managing daily activities, hiring and training technicians, improving department performance, ensuring customer satisfaction, administering warranty claims, and implementing strategic solutions. Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and Microsoft Office is also necessary.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Fixed Operations Manager, under the direction of Senior Management, oversees not only the service department, but also the parts department and body shop. The Fixed Operations Manager is responsible for the reputation, efficiency and profitability of these departments. The Fixed Operations Manager must possess 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in dealership and fixed operations role, and strong leadership skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage daily activities and schedules based on priorities and customer needs
- Direct the hiring and training of internal and road technicians
- Work with department managers to improve profitability and efficiency
- Create and maintain a positive relationship with customers, ensuring that department staff is helpful, as well as making customer satisfaction a priority to ensure referral and repeat business
- Work directly with customers and warranty staff to administer warranty claims, as well as understanding and applying warranty guidelines
- Ensure that service repairs are performed efficiently and correctly by conducting spot checks on jobs
- Work with Service Director to ensure customer vehicles are fixed correctly and within timeframe the first time
- Other duties as requested by corporate Senior Management
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in commercial vehicle or dealership parts / service / fixed operations experience
- CDK Global DMS experience highly preferred
- Strong formal and informal leadership skills
- A clear and solid understanding of the issues faced by the organization and the commercial vehicle business strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with key external stakeholders
- Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
- Demonstrated experience coordinating strategic and engagement planning initiatives
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, staffing, and scheduling
- Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Highly professional and dependable
- Safety and customer service oriented
- Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite
