Role summary
Mayo Clinic is seeking a Finance Analyst II for a hybrid role in Jacksonville, Florida. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial and statistical data through general ledger entries, reports, reconciliations, and analysis. The analyst will support finance teams and leadership, utilize reporting tools for complex financial information, and apply Mayo and governmental finance policies. Responsibilities include identifying and implementing process improvements, developing business models, and providing analytical support. The role also involves mentoring and training staff. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 3 years of experience is required, or 5 years with other business degrees. Advanced degrees or certifications can substitute for one year of experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, with experience in data visualization tools and ERP systems being preferred. Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills are necessary, along with a commitment to learning healthcare finance.
HYBRID: This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of the Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville, Florida campus for on-site expectations.
Assures the integrity of financial and statistical data, via preparation or review of general ledger entries, reports, schedules, worksheets, reconciliations or other analysis. Works in a team environment providing support to finance analysts and leadership. Actively communicates and presents information to various audiences. Uses reporting tools to develop complex management financial information. May develop expertise and/or become primary owner of a technical process. Interprets and applies Mayo and governmental finance and accounting policies and procedures. Proactively identifies and communicates problems and opportunities; seeks input and participates in implementing solutions or process improvements. Assists in the development of variable-sensitive business models and/or compliance or fiscal management tools. Provides analytical, financial, accounting, and compliance support to department and institutional leadership. Mentors, coaches, and trains staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance. If degree is in Accounting or Finance, minimum of 3 years applicable experience in accounting or finance is required.
Other business related bachelor's degrees require a minimum of 5 years of applicable accounting or finance experience.
A master degree in accounting or finance, a MBA, MHA, CPA (active or inactive), CMA or CIA can be substituted for one year experience.
Demonstrates a solid understanding of fundamental accounting and finance concepts, including debits and credits, general ledger activity, financial statements, budgeting, variance analysis, and basic forecasting. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to organize, analyze, and present financial data. Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, and large accounting, financial reporting, or ERP systems is preferred.
Demonstrates strong analytical, investigational, communication, and relationship-building skills; attention to detail; and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Able to build constructive working relationships with operational, administrative, and physician leaders; communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences; and demonstrate initiative, curiosity, and a commitment to learning healthcare finance.
