Mentor A Promise (MAP) seeks a Volunteer Mentorship Program Manager to oversee the structure, coordination, and quality of its mentorship programs for youth experiencing housing instability in NYC. This management and systems role focuses on ensuring alignment between mentors, curriculum, and student outcomes. The manager will lead Program Coordinators and Mentor Leads, build scalable delivery systems, and ensure consistent program execution across sites. Responsibilities include program oversight, team leadership, mentor experience management, curriculum alignment, systems improvement, and reporting. The role requires experience in program management, education, or youth development, with strong leadership and systems management skills. This is a hybrid/remote, volunteer position requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.

Role Overview
We are seeking a Mentorship Program Manager to oversee the structure, coordination, and quality of mentorship across MAP programs.
This role is responsible for ensuring alignment between mentors, curriculum, and student outcomes—while managing the systems and people that make program execution consistent across sites.
This is a management and systems role—not an individual contributor role. The Program Manager leads through coordinators and ensures that execution is distributed, supported, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight & Coordination
- Oversee mentorship program implementation across sites and teams
- Ensure consistency in program structure, scheduling, and delivery
- Monitor alignment between program design and on-the-ground execution
Team Leadership & Management
- Manage and support Program Coordinators and Mentor Leads
- Provide guidance, structure, and accountability across teams
- Ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and upheld
Mentor Experience & Quality Assurance
- Ensure mentors are supported, prepared, and aligned with program expectations
- Partner with Training Team to reinforce onboarding and ongoing development
- Monitor mentor engagement, retention, and effectiveness
Curriculum & SEL Alignment
- Work with Instructional Design and SEL teams to ensure mentorship aligns with curriculum goals
- Ensure activities and mentor interactions support student development outcomes
- Identify gaps between design and execution and drive improvements
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Build and refine systems that support scalable mentorship delivery
- Identify operational challenges and implement solutions through coordinators
- Track program consistency, engagement, and performance indicators
Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular updates to Program Leadership on program health and needs
- Surface risks, gaps, and opportunities early
- Maintain organized documentation and communication via Google Workspace
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in program management, education, or youth development
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to manage systems, people, and processes simultaneously
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values
Preferred
- Experience managing coordinators or multi-site programs
- Familiarity with mentorship models, SEL, or education programs
- Experience in nonprofit or school-based environments
- Strong understanding of program operations and scaling
Commitment
- Volunteer leadership role
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
- Hybrid / remote, with optional NYC-based collaboration
