Role summary

Microsoft is seeking a Principal Product Manager for Windows Planning to lead a team focused on integrating customer and OEM needs into Windows feature planning. This role requires driving alignment, managing the feature request pipeline, influencing planning across Windows feature teams, and building strong partnerships. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of product management experience, a deep understanding of the Windows ecosystem, and strong skills in prioritization, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a hybrid role with a focus on strategic leadership and execution within the Windows product group.

Responsibilities

  • Own the feature request pipeline: Aggregate and drive frameworks for prioritization (impact, cost, etc) from OEM partners and commercial customers, ensuring clarity and actionable insights.
  • Influence Windows planning: Work across each of the Windows feature teams to advocate for prioritized requests and secure inclusion in release plans.
  • Build trusted partnerships: Develop strong relationships with feature team leaders so they rely on this team for landscape insights before planning cycles begin.
  • Integrate into planning processes: Embed into multiple feature team planning rhythms to provide timely input, map dependencies, influence decisions, and track triage and delivery.
  • Collaborate across WECE: Partner closely with Windows Ecosystem & Commercial Engagement teams to align on priorities across the inputs and asks and communicate progress.
  • Quickly evaluate ROI: rapidly evaluate and communicate the Return On Investment of requested Windows features across engineering, finance and business stakeholders.
  • Drive transparency and accountability: Establish mechanisms to establish SLAs, track request status, and communicate outcomes to OEM and Commercial stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development.
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualications

  • Deep understanding of the Windows development and release cycle, including planning milestones and dependencies.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and build trust across diverse teams.
  • Proficient program management skills with experience in planning processes and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficient communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with Windows ecosystem, OEM engagement, and commercial customer needs is a plus.
  • Ability to synthesize complex inputs into clear priorities and drive execution.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
