Role summary
This contract role focuses on creating clear, engaging, and strategic user interface content for cutting-edge internal tools, particularly AI-driven solutions. The Technical Instructional Designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex technical concepts into intuitive content, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, and terminology. Responsibilities include auditing existing content, establishing content strategy standards, and developing technical documentation. Summary:

Your work will directly impact how employees interact with campus experience tools and the backend systems that support them, with a particular focus on innovative AI-driven solutions. This role demands a strategic thinker who understands UX design principles and can maintain consistency in voice, tone, and terminology across multiple touchpoints. You will be responsible for auditing existing content, establishing content strategy standards, and ensuring that every word serves the user's needs while aligning with broader product goals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with designers, researchers, program managers, and product managers to gather requirements and translate them into clear, engaging user interface content
- Write and refine UI content that enhances user experience across internal employee experience tools and backend systems
- Shape and maintain product voice and tone to ensure consistency across all user touchpoints
- Conduct comprehensive terminology audits to establish and uphold content standards
- Organize material and complete writing assignments according to established standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
- Maintain detailed records and files of work, revisions, and content iterations
- Confer with stakeholders to establish technical specifications and determine subject material to be developed
- Uphold UX writing and content strategy standards across all projects
- Contribute to the development of AI-focused tools that enhance internal user experiences
- Create and maintain technical documentation including equipment materials, appendices, and operating instructions
Requirements:
- 5-7 years of professional experience in technical writing or UX content design
- Content writing with minimum 6-7 years of experience
- Proofreading with minimum 6-7 years of experience
- Taxonomy development with minimum 6-7 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, English, journalism, or communications
- Portfolio of writing samples demonstrating UI/UX content design work and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication abilities
- Strong understanding of UX design principles and user-centered content strategy
- Ability to read and understand programming code
- Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Strategic thinking with a broader perspective on user experience
- Experience creating documentation for technical audiences
- Proficiency in organizing and maintaining technical records and files
Additional Details:
- Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite)
- Duration: 3 months
- Pay Range\*: $70.50 - $80 per hour
- Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
- Job Status: Non-Exempt
