Role summary

Summary:

This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape how employees navigate and interact with campus facilities through sophisticated information architecture. Working within a dynamic Real Estate and Facilities team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-scale taxonomies that power wayfinding tools and campus equipment systems. Your expertise will directly impact the daily experience of thousands of campus users by creating intuitive, semantically rich structures that enable natural language queries and seamless content discovery. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance technical precision with user-centered design, translating complex organizational structures into accessible navigation systems that support critical campus operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define and develop domain taxonomies using SKOS standards, including concept schemes, broader/narrower relationships, preferred labels, and synonyms
  • Create and maintain user language synonym libraries and alternative labels to support natural language query capabilities
  • Design and implement durable hierarchical structures that enable navigation and content retrieval across priority domains such as Transportation and Dining
  • Implement taxonomies within enterprise platforms including term stores and SharePoint tagging models
  • Develop semantic data patterns optimized for AI retrieval systems that combine taxonomy discovery with ontology validation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure taxonomies align with campus equipment, software systems, and wayfinding requirements
  • Maintain and evolve taxonomy structures to accommodate changing organizational needs and user behaviors
  • Document taxonomy standards, guidelines, and governance processes for enterprise-wide consistency

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in taxonomy development, information architecture, or content systems at enterprise scale
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with SKOS implementation
  • 3-5 years of experience implementing taxonomies in enterprise platforms
  • 3-5 years of experience designing semantic data patterns for AI retrieval systems
  • Associate's degree in information science, library science, design, or related field required
  • Bachelor's degree in information science, library science, design, or related field preferred
  • SKOS proficiency including concept schemes, preferred labels, altLabels, and hierarchical relationships
  • Enterprise taxonomy implementation in platforms such as term stores and SharePoint tagging models
  • Semantic data pattern design for AI retrieval systems
  • Information architecture principles and methodologies
  • Content systems management at enterprise scale
  • Natural language processing concepts and applications
  • OWL/RDF familiarity and ontology-module thinking for rules, constraints, and validation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences

Additional Details:

  • Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite)
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Pay Range\*: $33 - $37.50 per hour
  • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
  • Job Status: Non-Exempt
