Role summary

Mizuho is seeking a Senior Risk Program Manager to report to the Risk PMO lead. This role is responsible for defining and leading large, impactful programs and initiatives within the Risk function. Key responsibilities include ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and industry best practices, driving program delivery from design to adoption, and managing technology solutions, governance, and business process redesign. The role involves translating business needs into technical requirements, managing cross-functional impacts, prioritizing initiatives with senior management, and overseeing program resources. Additionally, the Senior Risk Program Manager will be responsible for the career development of direct reports.

The Senior Program Manager will report to the Risk PMO lead. The mandate is to define and lead large programs and other initiatives which have significant impact to the Risk function at Mizuho
Key Responsibilities Include

  • Defining key initiatives to ensure bank is in line with regulatory expectations and industry best practice
  • Driving the delivery of key initiatives from design through to delivery including development of target state business processes, build and adoption of technology solutions
  • Ensure target end state is delivered inclusive of governance change, business process re-design and appropriate controls
  • Leading the translation of business needs into technology solutions and data requirements
  • Working across functions and legal entities to structure the work-efforts required for successful delivery
  • Understanding cross-functional impact of proposed technology solutions and identifying areas of efficiency
  • Review key identified initiatives with senior management to define appropriate prioritization
  • Providing appropriate information share and updates with senior management and other key stakeholders
  • Oversight of program and project level resources including those provided by 3rd party providers
  • Management of the career growth of Mizuho employees who are under direct supervision

Requirements

  • Significant experience and track record of delivery of major initiatives at large and complex financial institutions. This includes how to structure major initiatives, project planning, budgeting and resource allocation
  • Experience leading large scale programs within Financial Risk (Market Risk, Liquidity Risk, Credit Risk, Enterprise/Portfolio Risk) and non-financial risk (Operational Risk).
  • Deep understanding of Risk functionalities as well as the technologies and data which enable these
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Risk change management
  • Strong business, analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Proven experience of team leadership, career development of others and developing individuals in the program and change management space
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills including experience at performing this across multiple functions, committees and areas
  • Superior communication skills: both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff
  • Tolerance and understanding in multi cultures.

*The expected base salary ranges from $200k-$250k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.*
