Customer Program Manager

Modus Advanced, Inc.

Location: Livermore, CA (Hybrid – 2–3 days/week in office) Pay Range: $75,000–$95,000 Full-Time, Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW

Modus Advanced is looking for a Customer Program Manager to own the full order execution lifecycle for our most strategic accounts in aerospace, defense, and commercial space. This is not a sales role. There is no quota, no pipeline to manage, and no prospecting. What there is: ownership, complexity, and high stakes.

You will drive orders from PO receipt to shipment for programs where schedule failures have real consequences — defense systems on critical paths, commercial space launch windows, and medical devices that cannot be late. You will coordinate across Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Pre-Production to keep programs moving, surface constraints before they become problems, and communicate with precision to customers who have zero tolerance for ambiguity.

The right person for this role has a project management or program management background in a manufacturing or technical environment. You are used to owning outcomes, not just tracking them. You know how to read a production schedule, understand lead time dynamics, and translate operational reality into clear, confidence-building communication for demanding customers.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Orders for key accounts ship on time or early, consistently
  • Constraints and risks are surfaced early — with a proposed resolution, not just a problem statement
  • Internal teams view you as a reliable, proactive partner who removes roadblocks
  • Customers feel fully informed at every stage of the order lifecycle
  • Business Central and customer portals reflect accurate, real-time order status at all times

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Execution & Customer Communication

  • Own the full order execution lifecycle for assigned key accounts from PO receipt through shipment confirmation
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned accounts — via email, phone, video, and customer portals
  • Provide regular program status updates, lead-time visibility, and proactive communication on potential delays or scope changes
  • Communicate difficult updates clearly and professionally without losing customer confidence
  • Manage urgent requests and changing priorities with calm, solution-oriented execution
  • Build the kind of customer relationships that reflect Modus’s reputation for precision and reliability

Internal Coordination & Cross-Functional Drive

  • Coordinate daily with Operations, Planning, Pre-Production, Quality, and Engineering to track program status and drive resolution of bottlenecks
  • Proactively identify risks, expedite requests, and change orders — then facilitate the cross-functional action needed to address them
  • Lead or facilitate internal status updates to keep orders moving toward on-time or early delivery
  • Ensure all order activity complies with AS9100, ITAR, and applicable quality and regulatory requirements

Systems & Data Accuracy

  • Maintain accurate, real-time order data in Microsoft Business Central ERP
  • Keep customer portals current with status, documentation, and delivery commitments
  • Surface data discrepancies or system gaps and drive resolution with the appropriate teams

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Background

  • 3–7 years of experience in a Program Manager, Customer Program Manager, Production Control, Supply Chain PM, Order Management, or similar role in a manufacturing or technical environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority accounts and programs simultaneously without losing accuracy or responsiveness
  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, commercial space, or a similarly regulated/mission-critical industry preferred
  • Background in project or program management with accountability for outcomes, not just task tracking

Technical Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and lead time dynamics
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems and compliance requirements
  • Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Business Central is a strong plus
  • Understanding of ITAR requirements and the confidentiality obligations of defense and aerospace programs

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication — equally effective with technical engineers and program managers
  • Able to deliver difficult updates clearly and professionally without losing customer confidence
  • Strong listening instincts — you understand what a customer actually needs, not just what they asked for

Personal Attributes

  • Strong ownership mindset — you treat your accounts as if they were your own program
  • Proactive by default: you identify issues before they become problems and bring solutions
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented — you track the details others miss
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities shift
  • Collaborative team player who builds credibility through reliability and follow-through

WHAT WE OFFER

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary of $75,000–$95,000 with annual performance-based review
  • This is a salaried role with no commission component — your performance is measured by program outcomes and customer results
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance — Modus contributes up to $1,000/month toward your premium at the manager level
  • 401(k) with company matching (25¢ on the dollar up to the first 6% of compensation; eligible after 6 months)
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • Professional development support and tuition reimbursement
  • Employee referral bonus program ($1,000 per hired referral after 90 days)

Growth & Work Environment

  • Hybrid flexibility — 2–3 days/week in office with a Livermore-based team
  • Direct access to senior operations, engineering, and sales leadership in a collaborative, no-politics environment
  • High-visibility role with meaningful impact on revenue retention and customer experience
  • Opportunity to build long-term relationships with some of the most innovative companies in defense, space, and aerospace
  • Culture that rewards ownership, initiative, and results
