Role summary

Muon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in robotics, autonomy, embedded software, or distributed systems to join their Software Team. The role involves designing, leading, and implementing complex, cross-team projects, estimating future work, and measuring progress against company goals. The engineer will act as a subject matter expert, mentor junior engineers, and uphold company standards for code, testing, and design. A strong background in C++, Rust, or Python, along with system design and coding skills, is essential. Prior experience in aerospace software is preferred.

### Who you are
- They have significant prior experience and interest in either robotics, autonomy, embedded software, mobile development, simulation or distributed systems
- Proven capability to quickly learn new programming languages and development environments
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field
- 8+ years experience as a software engineer in a team environment
- Strong programming in C++, Rust or Python
- Expertise in embedded software, robotics or autonomy
- Training in physics, statistics, computational mathematics or electrical engineering
- Prior experience in aerospace software

- Design, lead, implement multi-week complex and cross-team projects
- Estimate forward-looking work
- Measure metrics aligned and highly correlated with company goals
- Manage, publish and update goals for their area of responsibility
- Act as the company expert in their area of ownership
- Mentor new and junior engineers
- Ensure company standards are upheld for code, testing, design and review
- Participate in evaluating and selecting technologies for our software foundation
