Role summary
Mutual of Omaha is seeking a remote, full-time Cloud Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale secure, reliable cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code and modern orchestration tools. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, a developer's mindset, and at least 5 years of hands-on development experience with an object-oriented language (TypeScript preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK preferred). They will also have experience with cloud orchestration, scripting languages, APIs, and a solid understanding of cloud security and compliance. WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
- Estimated Salary: Engineer II: $115,000 - $135,000, plus annual bonus opportunity
- Engineer III: $130,000 - $150,000, plus annual bonus opportunity
- 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Build and manage stable secure cloud infrastructure/networking using cloud orchestration capabilities, scripting languages and APIs to design, code, test, implement and support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Public Cloud.
- Enable other development teams to achieve the organization’s cloud vision through serving as the cloud subject matter expert and providing excellent trouble shooting and guidance.
- Configuration of common cloud services in the production environment.
- Create and maintain shared libraries and services used throughout the department, I/S Workplace Solutions.
- Collaborate to uncover pain points and formulate ways to accelerate delivery.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- 5+ years of hands-on development experience using an object-oriented language (TypeScript preferred) and two or more of the following competencies:
- - Infrastructure as a Code (Preferred: AWS CDK, Cloud Formation)
- Containerization with Docker (Preferred: Kubernetes, Elastic Container Service (ECS), Fargate)
- Databases (Preferred: Postgres, RDS Aurora, MongoDB)
- Message/Data Streaming (Preferred: AWS MSK, Kafka)
- GitHub, GitHub Actions, Git for version control
- Experience with distributed cloud platform configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management automation tools.
- Understanding of security and compliance for a cloud environment.
- Experience building/managing cloud services by automating/orchestrating complex processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) within a single cloud environment.

- Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
PREFERRED:
- Strong interpersonal communication with both technical and nontechnical audiences.

- Proficiency in Software Engineering and best practices.
