Role summary

MyBCAT is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Cloud Engineer to join their remote team in Latin America. This contractor role involves building and maintaining a healthcare AI platform, focusing on patient scheduling, insurance verification, and clinical workflows. The engineer will work with a tech stack including React, TypeScript, Python, AWS serverless services (Lambda, DynamoDB), Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with healthcare/HIPAA compliance and AI-assisted development tools is preferred. The position requires working US business hours (9 AM - 6 PM ET, Mon-Fri) and offers a compensation range of $25,000 - $60,000 USD annually.

About MyBCAT

MyBCAT is a managed back-office and call center platform serving 30+ U.S. optometry practices. We handle patient scheduling, insurance verification, phone system automation, and clinical workflows. Our platform processes hundreds of thousands of patient interactions and meets strict HIPAA compliance requirements.

We are a small, high-autonomy team building at the intersection of healthcare operations and AI. Our engineering culture is AI-native — we build with Claude Code, Codex CLI, and other agent-assisted development tools daily.

Location: Remote — Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile)

Compensation: $25,000 – $60,000 USD/year, paid monthly in USD

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM Eastern Time

Type: Contractor (you manage your own local tax obligations)

What You Will Build

• Client Portal — React/TypeScript dashboard for optometry practices with analytics and call data

• Phone System Automation — Amazon Connect and RingCentral integrations for call routing, AI transcription (DeepGram), and post-call workflows

• OptometryConnect EHR — Greenfield electronic health records system on the Oystehr platform

• Internal Tooling — Automation pipelines, reporting dashboards, and operational tools for 60+ agents

Tech Stack

Frontend: React, Vite, TypeScript

Backend: Python 3.12, AWS Lambda (serverless)

Databases: DynamoDB (1M+ items), PostgreSQL (RDS)

Infrastructure: Terraform, GitHub Actions CI/CD

Cloud: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EventBridge, Cognito, SQS/SNS)

AI/ML: DeepGram, Claude API, AI-assisted coding workflows

Telephony: Amazon Connect, RingCentral, Bland.ai

Integrations: HubSpot, Monday.com, QuickBooks, Stripe

Required

• 4+ years building and deploying full-stack applications

• Strong React and TypeScript frontend proficiency

• Production Python and AWS serverless experience (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3)

• Terraform or equivalent IaC experience

• PostgreSQL and DynamoDB familiarity

• CI/CD pipeline experience (GitHub Actions or similar)

• Professional English proficiency (written and verbal)

• Must work US business hours (9 AM – 6 PM ET, Mon–Fri)

Strongly Preferred

• Healthcare/HIPAA-compliant systems experience

• Amazon Connect or cloud telephony

• AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Codex CLI)

• Event-driven architectures (EventBridge, SQS, SNS)

• Experience working with U.S.-based remote teams
