Position Overview:

The Cybersecurity Engineer I Consultant supports cybersecurity engineering and risk management activities for the Enterprise Identity, Credential, and Access Management (E-ICAM) Program Management Office (PMO) within a Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) environment. This role focuses on continuous monitoring, integrating security services with the cloud host services, supporting policy development, and assisting in incident response and recovery efforts to strengthen the security posture of enterprise systems and networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuous monitoring of cloud environments. This includes working with team to scan environment, review STIGs, track open findings and remediation steps, develop and assess controls, develop policies, system audits, log reviews, working with external teams to integrate with cloud host services, troubleshoot issues with security tools (ACAS, Tenable, CloudTrail/CloudWatch, Endpoint Security, etc)
  • Conduct cybersecurity assessments to identify system, network, and application vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate remediation strategies.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity risk management frameworks and security control baselines.
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Support incident response activities, including analysis, containment, and coordination of recovery efforts.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and technical teams to support disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of cybersecurity training and awareness programs to promote best practices.
  • Work closely with cybersecurity engineers, program management staff, and stakeholders to enhance enterprise security measures.
  • Document assessment results, risk findings, and recommendations in support of compliance and governance activities.
  • Support E-ICAM initiatives related to identity, credentialing, access management, and Zero Trust architecture.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant cybersecurity or information assurance experience.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity assessments, risk management, and security policy implementation.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Active Secret clearance required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent will be exposed to normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on a computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email, and face to face. This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
