About The Role
As a Senior Data Engineer at Gridware, you will play a pivotal role in designing and expanding our data infrastructure that underpins our real-time grid monitoring platform. Your expertise will be crucial in building high-performance data pipelines capable of processing vast streams of sensor and telemetry data. Your work will directly contribute to detecting faults, predicting failures, and enhancing the resilience of the electrical grid that powers communities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with innovative technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions that have a tangible impact on energy safety and efficiency.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over four years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with a proven track record of building and scaling real-time data systems. Strong proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, along with extensive experience working with relational, time series, and streaming databases. Familiarity with modern data stacks such as Spark, Kafka, Databricks, and cloud-native tools is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and real-time streaming architectures suitable for production environments. Knowledge of data governance, security practices, and CI/CD workflows is also important. Bonus skills include experience with IoT data processing, edge computing, Docker, Kubernetes, and machine learning workflows.
Responsibilities

  • Deploy and manage Unity Catalog to standardize data governance, lineage, and access control across various data domains.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines and architectures that support real-time data ingestion and processing.
  • Implement robust data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand and fulfill data requirements.
  • Optimize data workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability, ensuring high system availability.
  • Monitor data pipelines and related systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Document data processes, architecture, and workflows to maintain transparency and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams.
