We are seeking a skilled
**Operations Software Engineer**
based in Boulder, CO. In this role, you will build and maintain Nova’s production management and flight operations software that powers our large-scale drone light shows. You’ll work across the stack to develop tools that directly impact how shows are planned, executed, and scaled globally.
**As an Operations Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:**

  • Design & Development — Own and evolve the core systems that power our drone shows—from early concept through live execution. You’ll build and shape tools for production and show management, including logistics, resource planning, and collaboration, with real-world impact on every show we launch.
  • System Integration & Reliability — Take responsibility for how everything connects. You’ll ensure our systems work seamlessly together while writing clean, scalable code that performs under the demands of live productions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration — Work closely with engineering, operations, and creative teams to turn bold show concepts into reality. You’ll help translate storyboards and ideas into software that directly drives what audiences experience in the sky.
  • Continuous Improvement — Continuously raise the bar—refining systems, improving performance, and enhancing scalability and security. You’ll play a key role in shaping how we build, leveraging new technologies and pushing our platform forward as we grow.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3–5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Proficiency in one or more: JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Three.js
  • Experience building and maintaining full-stack web applications
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) effectively and responsibly
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills in fast-paced, collaborative environments
  • Experience in entertainment, live production, or similar industries is a plus
