Role summary

Odyssey, an AI lab focused on general-purpose world models, seeks a Chief of Staff to act as the CEO and CTO's right-hand. This strategic role requires founder-like thinking, operating at the intersection of strategy, fundraising, research, and execution. Responsibilities include partnering with leadership, driving business goals, supporting fundraising and board activities, and leading special projects. The ideal candidate has a background in VC, research, product, or investing, with experience in scaling startups and working with executive teams. Strong analytical skills, fluency in metrics and financial storytelling, and comfort with ambiguity are essential.

Who we are

Odyssey is an AI lab pioneering general-purpose world models: causal, multimodal systems that learn to predict and interact with the world over long horizons, while generating real-time, interactive simulations from any starting point. This foundational technology promises to revolutionize robotics, science, healthcare, education, gaming, defense, and beyond.

What we’re looking for

This is a true Chief of Staff role—not a supporting or administrative position. You will act as the CEO and CTO’s right-hand and proxy, operating with immense scope, trust, and influence across the business. You are someone who thinks like a founder, or even has founder experience: analytical and comfortable operating at the intersection of strategy, fundraising, research, and execution. You will help the CEO and CTO look around corners, surface blind spots, and scale themselves and the company at a critical inflection point. This role has a seat at the table and the opportunity to shape the company’s trajectory at the highest level.

What you’ll do

  • CEO & CTO Partnership & Strategic Execution

    • Serve as a thought partner and trusted advisor to the CEO and CTO, and work closely across the leadership team to drive business goals

    • Act as a proxy for the CEO and CTO in meetings, decision-making, and follow-ups

    • Anticipate challenges, connect dots, and proactively surface risks and opportunities

  • Fundraising & Board Support

    • Partner with the CEO on all aspects of the fundraise (e.g., fundraising strategy, investor narratives, and round execution)

    • Lead preparation of fundraising decks, board decks, and strategic materials

    • Support board management, investor communications, and executive updates

    • Operate with fluency across venture capital, growth metrics, and financial storytelling

  • Business Operations & Special Projects

    • Lead strategic planning, prioritization, and operating cadence

    • Drive cross-functional initiatives that don’t clearly “belong” to any one team

    • Tackle ambiguous, high-impact problems across the business

    • Identify leverage points to scale the company as it grows

Who you are

  • Background in VC, research, product, or investing, or a strong understanding of this landscape based on startup experience

  • Strong analytical background, with the ability to break down complex, ambiguous problems and translate them into clear frameworks for decisions and recommended actions

  • Experience at a scaling startup (ideally Series A–C)

  • Experience and comfort working with Executive Teams, plus if you’ve reported to an executive

  • Hands-on involvement in fundraising, including preparing investor materials, financial narratives, and board decks

  • Fluency in metrics, modeling, and strategic tradeoffs at both the company and market level

  • Exposure to high-bar, fast-paced cultures (e.g., YC-backed companies) is a strong plus

  • Operates with urgency, ownership, and extreme trustworthiness

  • Thrives in ambiguity and high-expectation environments
