Role summary

A fast-growing AI healthcare company is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to be the first dedicated infrastructure hire. This role involves building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and compliant AWS infrastructure to support AI-driven growth. You will focus on improving the AWS stack for developer velocity, designing systems for AI feature development and LLM observability, reducing AWS costs, and leading infrastructure security and compliance efforts. The ideal candidate has 5-10 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering with deep hands-on AWS experience and a passion for developer experience, observability, and automation.

You'll be the first dedicated infrastructure engineer and shape how systems scale, remain reliable, and stay compliant. This role sits at the intersection of dev experience, observability, and AI infrastructure, giving you both autonomy and technical ownership from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain infrastructure to support the next wave of AI-driven growth.
  • Improve the AWS stack for reliability, performance, and developer velocity.
  • Design systems that power faster AI feature development and better LLM observability.
  • Reduce AWS costs through improved visibility and automation.
  • Lead infrastructure security and compliance (VPNs, networking, firewalls).
  • Automate compliance monitoring and reporting using AI agents.
  • Establish the foundational infra roadmap and influence future team hiring as the function scales.

Who You Are

  • 5-10 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering.
  • Deep hands-on experience building and managing large-scale AWS environments.
  • Comfortable balancing reliability, speed, and cost efficiency in a startup environment.
  • Passionate about developer experience, observability, and automation.
  • Hands-on engineer who thrives in high-ownership, fast-moving teams.
  • Bonus: familiarity with healthcare data security, compliance automation, or AI infrastructure patterns.
