Sign up to see compensation estimateJob Overview We are seeking a VMware Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and support virtualized infrastructure environments. This role will be responsible for maintaining an existing VMware ESXi cluster supporting a critical physical security platform while also contributing to the design and deployment of new VMware infrastructure across core enterprise sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage VMware vSphere and ESXi environments along with iSCSI SAN storage infrastructure.
- Maintain an existing 6-host ESXi cluster supporting ~15 Windows Server 2022 virtual machines for a physical security system.
- Perform firmware upgrades, VMware core OS updates, and storage array updates to maintain system stability and performance.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and health, including high availability (HA) validation and failover testing.
- Optimize infrastructure through resource allocation and workload balancing.
- Manage backup and recovery processes, including designing, testing, and implementing backup solutions.
- Conduct vulnerability management and remediation activities across the environment.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, SOPs, and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and infrastructure teams to support operational and project initiatives.
- Support new infrastructure deployments, including Bill of Materials (BOM) development, installation, and configuration of VMware ESXi clusters at enterprise sites.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing VMware vSphere / ESXi environments and iSCSI SAN storage.
- Strong understanding of core IT infrastructure technologies, including: Microsoft Azure AD (Entra ID), TCP/IP networking and routing, DNS, Windows Server and Linux operating systems
- Experience supporting virtualized production environments and enterprise infrastructure operations.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or VMware Horizon / virtual desktop infrastructure
- Citrix technologies
- ServiceNow for ticketing and IT service management
- Experience with HPE Alletra Storage Arrays
- Familiarity with Equinix or other colocation site operational procedures
