## Job Description

Overview

OSI Systems companies have a long history of developing innovative solutions to bring a better quality of life to the world. Our OSI Electronics (OSIE) division is a diversified manufacturer of electronic devices and value-added manufacturing services.

We provide our customers with the manufacturing capabilities and purchasing power of a global Electronics Manufacturing Services provider. By delivering regional and personalized support best provided by a smaller company, we strive to build lasting relationships and create close and valued partnerships with our customers. Our singular focus is to help security experts, clinical professionals and high-tech developers solve real-world problems and issues.

PFC Flexible Circuits, a division of OSI Electronics, has a summer co-op opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a regulated manufacturing environment that produces products for the medical device industry. The Test Engineering CO-OP will play a pivotal role in upgrading our production environment. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end redesign of testing fixtures used to validate flexible circuits. It is a blend of Mechanical Design, Electronics, and Firmware Development. The mission is to transform legacy manual fixtures into programmable, high-efficiency systems that reduce downtime and improve data collection.

Responsibilities

With the guidance and support of our PFC team, the intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Evaluate existing test jigs and redesign them for improved electrical performance. Select and integrate sensors, pogo-pins, and microcontrollers to create "smart" testing interfaces.
  • Write and debug Python scripts to automate data logging and interface with test equipment.
  • Develop C/C++ firmware for microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, ESP32, or STM32) to manage test logic within the fixtures.
  • Create basic schematics and "User Manuals" for the production team to ensure the new fixtures are operated correctly and safely.
  • Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork.
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled and in good standing in an Undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of C/C++ (for embedded systems) and Python (for scripting/automation) is required.
  • Understanding of fundamental engineering and scientific principles is required.
  • Must have ability to read schematics, use a multimeter, and understand basic circuit theory (e.g., Ohm’s Law, signal integrity, etc.).
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis is required.
  • Experience in "maker" skills: soldering, 3D printing, or basic mechanical assembly is desired.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to independently troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and a strong desire to learn and contribute to a regulated manufacturing environment is desired.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team are required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required.

*OSI Systems, Inc. has three operating divisions: (a) Security, providing security and inspection systems, turnkey security screening solutions and related services; (b) Healthcare, providing patient monitoring, diagnostic cardiology and anesthesia systems; and (c) Optoelectronics and Manufacturing, providing specialized electronic components and electronic manufacturing services for original equipment manufacturers with applications in the defense, aerospace, medical and industrial markets, among others.*
