Role summary
A leading health care organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Cloud & Integrations for their Des Moines, IA office. This hybrid role is crucial for a large-scale modernization of their claims processing platform, transitioning from mainframe to a cloud-based environment. The engineer will analyze integration impacts, partner with architects on cloud solutions, support modernization efforts, design data movement strategies, and collaborate within an Agile team. The ideal candidate has experience with backend systems, cloud architectures (AWS), tools like AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, and Node.js, and works well in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Software Engineer – Cloud & Integrations

We are partnering with a leading organization in the health care industry that is undergoing a large-scale modernization of its claims processing platform. This role will play a key part in supporting critical integrations as legacy systems transition from mainframe technology to a modern cloud-based environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Analyze and interpret technical documentation to assess integration impacts across legacy and modern systems
- Partner with architects to align solutions with both current-state and future-state cloud architecture
- Support the modernization of existing integrations while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations
- Design and recommend technical approaches for data movement and transformation across systems
- Collaborate within an Agile team to prioritize and deliver against evolving requirements
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working on backend systems, integrations, or data pipelines
- Strong understanding of cloud-based architectures, ideally within AWS
- Hands-on experience with tools such as AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, or similar technologies
- Experience with Node.js or comparable backend development frameworks
- Ability to optimize data flow and troubleshoot integration challenges
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively in complex environments
- Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting large-scale system migrations or modernization efforts
- Background working with legacy systems alongside cloud-native technologies
- Exposure to healthcare or insurance-related systems
