The Experience team focuses on creating intuitive product experiences for partners using Paxos's regulated digital asset infrastructure. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will define architectural direction and drive initiatives to make onboarding, dashboards, governance, and developer interfaces self-service for institutional customers. You will architect reusable services, lead cross-team projects to improve system quality, and mentor engineers, ultimately raising the technical bar for the Experience organization.

About Paxos

Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.

We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like Mastercard, Visa, Robinhood, and PayPal.

About the team

The Experience team at Paxos designs and delivers intuitive, high-quality product experiences that make it easy for partners and their customers to access and use Paxos’ regulated digital asset infrastructure. We collaborate across product, design, and engineering to translate complex financial and crypto concepts into simple, reliable, and scalable experiences that can be embedded seamlessly into our partners’ products.

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Experience org, you will set architectural direction and drive cross‑team initiatives that make Paxos’s onboarding, dashboards, governance, and developer interfaces truly self‑service for institutional customers and platform partners. Working across both Dashboard & API and Onboarding & Compliance teams, your mission is to remove customer lifecycle bottlenecks and enable scalable, resilient experiences that let customers onboard, operate, and govern themselves with minimal manual support.

What you’ll do

  • Define and implement technical strategy for Experience surfaces spanning institutional onboarding, identity and screening, dashboards, approvals, and developer APIs.
  • Architect core reusable services and patterns for workflows such as KYC/KYB, onboarding flows, dormancy and identity controls, maker‑checker approvals, notifications, and reporting, ensuring scalability, auditability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead cross‑team projects that improve performance, observability, security, and reliability for onboarding and dashboard flows.
  • Collaborate closely with staff engineers, tech leads, Product, Compliance, Finance, Data, and Operations to prioritize and sequence work that unlocks business‑line goals.
  • Mentor engineers across both teams, helping them grow in system design, execution, and ownership, and raising the technical bar for Experience as a whole.

About you

  • 8+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems in high-growth technology companies
  • Proven experience working in the crypto / blockchain industry, with a solid understanding of key concepts, market landscape, and ecosystem participants
  • Proven track record of leading complex technical initiatives from conception to delivery
  • Deep expertise in designing and implementing large-scale, high-performance systems
  • Strong experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native technologies
  • Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence across teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across the organization
  • Track record of building automation systems and improving operational efficiency
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve how you work
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
