This position is critical for designing, building, and maintaining high-volume, mission-critical data platforms supporting clearing, settlement, risk, regulatory reporting, and financial operations within a regulated financial services environment. The role requires deep experience with financial data, particularly in clearing, settlement, brokerage, or exchange-related systems, and involves developing scalable data pipelines, optimizing ETL/ELT processes, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with various teams to maintain data accuracy, integrity, performance, and availability across the trade lifecycle. Experience with cloud platforms and messaging technologies is preferred.

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our technology team within a regulated financial services and clearing environment. This role is critical to designing, building, and maintaining high‑volume, mission‑critical data platforms that support clearing, settlement, risk, regulatory reporting, and financial operations. You will work closely with engineering, operations, risk, and compliance teams to ensure data accuracy, integrity, performance, and availability across the trade lifecycle. This position requires deep experience with financial data, particularly in clearing, settlement, brokerage, or exchange-related systems.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines supporting trade capture, clearing, settlement, margin, and risk systems
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for high‑volume, low‑latency financial data
- Partner with application engineers to integrate data solutions into clearing and back‑office platforms
- Ensure data quality, reconciliation, and auditability across upstream and downstream systems
- Support regulatory and financial reporting requirements with accurate, timely, and traceable data
- Optimize database and data platform performance for large transactional workloads
- Implement data models that support historical analysis, intraday reporting, and regulatory needs
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams on cloud migration, automation, and monitoring
- Enforce data governance, security, and compliance standards in line with financial regulations
- Participate in on‑call or incident support rotations for critical data platforms as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or backend data-focused roles
- Strong financial services experience, specifically with clearing and settlement systems, broker‑dealer, FCM, exchange, or clearing firm environments and trade lifecycle data (orders, executions, allocations, confirmations)
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with relational databases in high‑volume environments
- Hands-on experience designing robust data pipelines and data models
- Experience with production-grade data platforms supporting 24/5 or 24/7 operations
- Strong understanding of data integrity, reconciliation, and control frameworks
- Proven ability to work in regulated environments with audit and compliance requirements
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) preferred
- Familiarity with real-time or near-real-time data processing
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting (SEC, FINRA, CFTC, etc.) preferred
- Knowledge of messaging/streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka or equivalent)
- Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Prior experience modernizing legacy financial data systems
